For my cunning ways can make you shiver
Every time you're alone, and its dark, I can bite
Able to wash over you like a river
Resulting my way, it ends in fright.
Lonely when taken
Or, taken when filled
Voluntarily given when empty
Essentially with happiness, I can build.

If you read the poems, and searched in the words, the first letter of every line is part of the answer.
