Goodbye to an almost lost love

Contributed by dagonet on Sunday, 10th April 2005 @ 08:56:43 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Left alone in a world I cannot surpass,
As you walk out of my life, my sentence you pass,
If you ever realised your depth in my heart,
Then that faithful day we would never again be apart,

Off into the sunset, out into the world so cold,
Not with me anymore, not for me to love and hold,
Tear out my heart; perform an exorcism on my soul,
None of it matters, without you there will always be a hole,

The times of passion, the times of anger competing at a constant pace,
Now I feel destroyed as these pictures cannot hold your touch but only your face,
So much has passed; we have survived against great odds,
Now we are broken, separated by the greed of fallen gods,

Everyday I fight on with the hope of once again being at your side,
But with time I grow weak, im drowning in regret, beneath the deceptive tide,
My strength once so clear is now rapidly fading,
The way I let u go so easily is insulting and degrading,

I should have portrayed more strength in our ties,
Those who took you from what u were, the bastards will drown in their own lies,
Being alone is a wonderful thing says the wisest of men,
Well here is a word of wisdom; I won’t listen to their ********* ever again,

Fate is twisted; it is ruthless in ways that are wrong,
But I will not allow it to defeat me; I will try to be strong,
I wish I had your strength, your courage, but most of all your love,
So I am issuing a challenge, I am laying down the glove,

Come swift idiotic fate; face me as the hated being that you are,
I will go the distance to hold that for which I have fought, no matter how far,
Are you afraid of a man, I ask of fate to answer freely?
And fate replies no, but it is his shadow that will defeat me,

You took from me what I held dear, my only hope of love from humanity,
And now swift fate, thou shall feel the fires of my insanity.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
