Cancer

Contributed by NightOwl on Saturday, 9th April 2005 @ 09:54:41 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Cancer is malicious, vile evil
It steals away innocent life
Ripping apart friends and family
Tearing through hearts like a knife

It stole my childhood innocence
Nearly took my mother away
We live in horror and fear
Grateful for every day

I watched my mother, mentor, and teacher endure it
Losing hope and growing too thin
Through radiation burns and chemo
It is a fight we never win

It brings with it eternal scars
Both of body and of mind
It never truly goes away
This rampant killer of mankind

Why does cancer chose to take
Those we hold most dear???
Mom, Sister, innocent victims
I tried so hard to keep them here

But the horrifying reality is
You can never stop the spread
It multiplies faster than you can fight it
And those you love are soon dead

I was always too old for my years
Filled with hidden fear and pain
Always crying, always alone
On my soul grew dark, black stains

No one ever truly understood
My hidden, anguished life
Even when I reached for help
They ignored my grief and strife

Help me...
