Emptiness

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

My emotions devouring me from within and there is no escape
The emptiness and discontent I feel ready to rise up again, never giving in
Because now it seems that I have lost all hope and faith
Never telling you how I really felt was and still is one of my worst sins

It seems like time has moved forward so quickly, and the chances I had just slipped away
My voice silenced by confusion and uncertainty, not knowing how you would react
But still to this very day, even though I know that everything has changed
I wish that I could turn back the clock and reverse your decision to stab me in the back

It's just too late now, as everything I say falls on deaf ears
Now I come to the realisation that you just used me as a pawn in one of your sick twisted little mind games
You chose to believe what you wanted to believe, awakening all my fears
The words that I spoke used to be so sweet and tame, but are now the spark that ignites the flame

My emotions devouring me from within and there is no escape
The emptiness and discontent I feel ready to rise up again, never giving in
Because now it seems that I have lost all hope and faith
Never telling you how I really felt was and still is one of my worst sins

I don't know what I did to upset you and I wish you would just tell me how things are
Because despite what you may think, I still care for you very much indeed
And I don't know which one of the two is more trustworthy between my head and my heart ?
As I've tried so many times to bring myself to tell you what I really feel and believe

You see I think you too did love me once, back in the day when everything was so clear and picturesque
But now your soul has been poisoned, your heart ripped out by the one who chose to infect
You knew that I was right and you were wrong, as I could see though all the lies
So you chose to cut me off, lose all contact, and sever the ties

My emotions devouring me from within and there is no escape
The emptiness and discontent I feel ready to rise up again, never giving in
Because now it seems that I have lost all hope and faith
Never telling you how I really felt was and still is one of my worst sins

Now don't get me wrong, I still think that you're one pretty cool chick
In fact to have you would have to be my one and only wish
And if you came back to me asking for forgiveness, I would have to say that I would be more than happy to oblige
Because when I said I loved you, that's the only thing that's plagued my mind for the entire time

I just wish you could have given me the chance to explain, the time of day
Before you decided to shut me out completely and never listen to what I had to say
But in the end I guess it was just all to good to be true
And my biggest mistake was caring about and loving you

This piece has a gentle elegance about it to me because it's explaining harsh reality in beautiful gentle words. I could really relate to this piece.
