Paper Memories

Contributed by dark_descent on Wednesday, 6th April 2005 @ 08:16:46 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

The love letters breathe on the table
Ink bleeding through the delicate paper
The writing still looks wet, as though each word carries an eternal
promise that will never dry out
I trace them with my finger.
They do not smudge.

I love yous seep in through the door with the frosty winds of winter.

The days seem colder now, the skies darker
As if holding onto anger or pain
Released with every outburst of rain

The photographs, small pieces of time glossed over
Trapped memories, squares of motionless life
I can still feel the laughter in my veins
I just can't release it
I'm numb, frozen. I feel photographic.
I'm haunted by my memories, they have me by the throat
But nobody can hear silent screams

Push it all away, lock it in a heartshaped box
So I can live once more.

I felt this in the deepest areas inside.

I feel lucky, very much so to have come across such a GREAT poem.

I wanted to quote certain areas of your poem and then I found myself wanting to quote it all because it was just too good to quote only a few.

Excellent, beyond that.

Kie

I agree with Kie.
I'm breathless.

That should seriously be published.

It brings back so many of my own memories, and I think just about anyone could relate to it like I can. Absolutely wonderful.

Love, Jenna

Wow... I'm searching for bigger words, but I can't find them. Very, very well written. You've a great gift for expressing your inner feelings.
Take care.
David
