These birds of black words
from a forest they fly
with death on their breath
is my soul in their sigh?
They dare land on dead hand
upon branches of bark
silhouettes of dead pets
peck flesh from the heart
Gold is good road kill
for these birds of black fate
Do lies, end in dead eyes?
Better sooner than late
They could pour us from the forest
into puddles of no light
I can't save, my payment to the grave
despite my tired aging fight.
