Inescapable darkness

If you gaze into the darkness you will find
Me always standing there trapped and blind
Even though I have seen the truthful light
I’m sometimes still in darkness losing my sight
I ask God to please spare me from the dark
To grant me with sunshine or even just a spark
He lights up the roadway and I thank him for this
But swiftly the darkness engulfs me the shadows never miss
The demons come out and my heart blackens with all dimness
It looks like I’m here forever in my own inescapable darkness
