Remember Me

Topic: DarkPoetry

Do you ever wonder,
What will become of your memory,
After you pass away?
All the tears have been cried,
How are you remembered?
What do you become?

Memories spoken at your funeral,
People saying farewell.
None speak badly of the recently dead,
Yet when do the memories turn to bad?

Will people remember your smile,
Or the frown you occasionally wore?
The laughter you shared with others,
Or the laughter you made at others?

I want to be remembered for the good,
Yet know the bad will come in.
I have done nothing special for others,
No real charity or good deed.
Will that be the downfall of my memory?

Don't want to be forgotten,
Yet not remembered for all the bad.
How can you change a lifetime,
When you never really started it?

I look around at my friends,
Wondering what they would say about me.
Would each of them shed a tear?
Or would I only deserve a second of passing silence.

Don't want to go silently and alone,
But my life may lead me that way.
Don't want to die with tears in my eyes,
Knowing I was the only one crying for me.

So I ask the question,
Not really wanting the answer spoken,
How would you remember me?
