Rose of Innocence

Contributed by essentially9 on Monday, 4th April 2005 @ 09:38:10 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Rose of Innocence

The beautiful rose is desecrated.
The thorns bleed the life that's wasted
By the one that pricks their finger
Till the pain started to linger.

The rose is given life
When the sun no longer sheds its light.
The darkness covets the dew stricken petals
Until the wanton want for blood settles.

The dawn brings death to everything
With rays that shadow what could be.

The thorns still drip the blood from the other morn
From those who placed the crown of thorns
On the one who was later adorned.

The darkness now covets what was lost,
And the loss of life is what it costs.

I don't know if this was mocking Christianity
or not, but I thought this was written rather
oddly yet I liked how it was put together. It
was very good and I liked the imagery.

The regret you came up with was so beautifully done, which is such a sensible conclusion to the piece you've written here. Very descriptive as well, as the image of red is so clearly conveyed in those stanzas, coupled with the darkness. Hopefully I know who you're talking about in this poem, but to avoid pointing out my stupidity, ill just say it tasted great and leave now : ) :P
