INSIGNIFICANCE

It was just a small cog in the wheel that turned the universe,
a seemingly unimportant thing for it to be.
While the planets and bright stars in all their glorious array
were the ships that sailed unhindered on God’s celestial sea.
The tiny cog would go unnoticed because it had a job to do;
one simple chore was all the talent it possessed.
It turned, round and round in circles, which set the universe in sync;
a million things in unison and each one at its best.
It accepted as its duty, a task of insignificance;
then, resigned itself to do the best it could.
It performed its job routinely and never missed a turn …
all things in the heavens stayed in sequence as they should.
Man still enjoys the bright night sky in all its splendor,
with fiery trails of comets and their sparkling residue;
while unseen, within the darkness, a little cog spins ‘round
doing everything, untiring, which God created it to do.
It didn’t have to be the “star” performer,
nor, be something complicated and profound;
God created it to be exactly what it is …
a tiny gear that turns a wheel … and makes the universe go ‘round!

This is incredibly thought-provoking. A captivating write from the first line to the last, deep, powerful and full of hope. I love it. Written to perfection and it flows beautifully, thanks for sharing.

Yes breathtakingly captivating , as Becca says so well above. I am just echoing her.
And yes, t I believe that many people have the intuition of the immense importance of the seemingly "Insignificant" little cog that keeps the cosmos in sync by doing its job, but have a gret need to be reminded of it constantly.
What hope inspring work of art this is.
Whosoever can give the most hope - to him alone belongs the world!

Thank you John for sharing this splendid insight in poetic form with us
