From A Smile To A Shadow

Contributed by pixie on Sunday, 3rd April 2005 @ 08:52:44 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

From a smile to a shadow,
Inside your fears slowly grow,
You smile to the rest of the world,
All the while pain within unfurls.

Sadness lurks deep inside you,
Making your soul feel dead & blue,
How you really feel nobody can guess,
Outside you appear cool, inside you’re a mess.

As the mood deepens you sink,
Down into depressions brink,
It softly caresses your face,
Taking you into its un restful place.

Over the years you appear numb,
As you lay dying under depressions thumb,
Smiles are a distant memory,
Your heart cries as it longs to be free.

Laughter is something that died,
You lay it to rest when you first cried,
As soon as tears fell from your eyes,
You & happiness began to bid your goodbyes.

Alone you hide deep in the night,
Surrounded by fears as they hold you tight,
From a smile to a shadow,
Deeper into the lost world you go.

Ok. This is my new favourite of yours.
I adore this from the first line to the last.
The title drew me in and I couldn't stop reading.

Wow, hun.
I do hope this is just a poem though, but if you are really feeling this then I'm here if you need to talk.

Pix this was gorgeous. And oh so many of us can relate. Depression is a curse. I swear. But writing seems to be the only known cure. And your great at it. Very well done. *Hugs*

Sadness seems to cloak you.

You write with such talent.

I hope one day to read your poems where words are made up of smiles.
