GREAT MAN - HOLY MAN

Contributed by Elizabeth_Dandy on Saturday, 2nd April 2005 @ 03:15:32 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

Great Man!, -Holy Man, who’ll son be called “The GREAT”!,
Has now accomplished his great task and will soon lay in state.
Great Man- Holy Man who did proclaim the truth,
As you perceived it for your flock, especially the youth.

Ah! consciousness is everything, - with it you were so blessed,
And altered states of consciousness lend peace profound and rest.
The favored one, who is aware, - aware and can respond,
And thus communicate and care, and firm maintain love's bond.

How many nights’ rest sacrificed, -perhaps we’.ll never know,
Embracing your beloved Christ for peace on earth to sow.
Ah! altered states of consciousness produce serenity,
Be blessed with it until you go in into eternity.

Great Man!, who changed the course of our history,
But loved to speak with little kids and pray the Rosary;
He spoke :"AMEN" - his final word -when from his body fled the soul,
The bells of Rome and everywhere began in grief to peal and toll.

Great Holy Man!- so erudite,- you traveled, preached and taught,
And gave to many peace and light and brought a foe to naught.
Great are the works performed by you , in prayer, works and deeds,
The Holy Sprit gives each time the leader that it needs.

While worldwide faithful stand and cry before the Vatican,
Beneath the nightly Roman sky - in awe of a Great Man!.
The lessons learned .and well absorbed,- and profit drawn thereof.
Oh holy Giant notice now!.-dissent can not kill love.!.

Peculiar dichotomy,,- mixed flowing tears and cheers,
The Shepherd counseled bravery and ban the futile fears
And do like him, spurn maladies, and never ever stop;
But walk the arduous pilgrims way, with faith and love and hope

Soon you will be called and named “The Great" while people tribute pay,
And all the world will venerate while pundits have their say,
The Lord on high, and Advocate,- the Sprit high sublime
Gives every nation guides to lead required at its time.

And when your great soul leaves the clay to spread out wide its wing,.
The faithful flock will weep and pray, while you will meet your king.
But you oh Giant of Esprit,- you who proclaimed His word,-
True faithful steward grasp and hold the joy of our Lord.!

This is a great tribute to the pope. While I am not a Catholic I am very moved by the love and faith you have poured into this poem.

Great man
I know John PaulII would not care to be called great, but he certainly is.Even on te news Billy Gram---"another saintly man" said The Pope is in heaven now. Like Christ Himself John Paul loved all peoples and respected their faiths, nationalities, and their specialness in the eyes of God.
We have had a saint amoung us. "Thank God"
Beautiful tribute.

He who was . . . is no more. He who is . . . is evermore. This morning, on Earth, stood with his flock This evening, stands before his God, as Jesus’ proclaimed “Rock” A man who did his all in an honest effort to be as Christ-like as the Christ he represented. That I could live my life in the same era as John Paul II is my greatest thrill. I can go to my grave with the knowledge that I knew of one man who was pure goodness and showed the world his undiminished love of God. Thank you for this tribute to the closest thing I’ve ever seen that represents a Saint. I just don’t have the words to do him justice. A wonderful write Elizabeth. God’s blessings upon you.
