They know just who they are
Those men in black or green
The rules set out by F.I.F.A.
They’ve obviously never seen
Out there on the park
There’s three or maybe four
Their fitness and their eyesight
Are both so dreadfully poor
"I’m only doing my job"
Or this is what they claim
But I wish they’d do it properly
And stop spoiling our beautiful game
So many mistakes are made
Free kicks that shouldn’t be
Those red and yellow cards
Then that dodgy penalty
For timing they are armed
With a stopwatch or the clock
Those suspect extra four minutes
But no-one took a knock?
Up and down the touchline
Just wearing out the grass
Their silly flags they love so much
They should shove em up their shirts
"You what, he’s not offside!"
Too often we scream and shout
On the gates we should hang signs
Match officials PLEASE KEEP OUT!

Thankyou Candice,
I'm pleased you do, I think maybe there aren't too many people (mostly being from the US & Australia) on this site who are into Football(Soccer)!
I did hope it would get more response because this is another that I really was pleased with, and that's quite rare for my own work!

| Dean, I think sometimes all that matters is that we are pleased with our own work, although a lot of the time that never really happens. Most on my poems I am not happy with no matter how many people tell me that it is good. I personally am not into sports at all (except for volleyball), I just really liked the poem. |
