There's a Fly in My Soup

Contributed by espeeayzee on Friday, 1st April 2005 @ 02:13:37 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Waters become mirky with the blinding litter of uncertainty
I swim through, tossing aside virus riddled debris
as I search for the familiar comfort where sun rays penetrate

Waves of emotion stir these mirky waters
not by choice but to filter and cleanse the future tides ashore

In this world where prisons are erected behind our backs
and make prisoners of behind our very eyes

Swimming away I find an escape
as clarity is noticed from the watchtower on high

Escaping the prison only to no avail
I must swim through the muck provided by the filth in these waters

Funny.....it still feels as if I'm there
where I escaped

Telling me freedom is upon us only in preconceived thought
only to find
the shackles still lingering in our minds

Remember the refuse in these waters are an illusion
put there by our minds like a mother
who uses scare tactics to keep her children close to home

But damn these shackles that bring me down
towards the thoughts where only mold thrives
and aspirations drown

Interesting title. I like this! It reminds me of how I write sometimes.
Keep up the good work, espeeayzee!

Myself, I like the truth of the matter. The way you express what you see and feel is wonderful!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
