Kids of the Black Hole

Contributed by Blue on Friday, 20th December 2002 @ 08:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

tattered clothes and disgusting hair
taunting smiles & brazen stares
masking the promise of another day of pain
heroin junkie poking at his vein
someone's son died in the rain today
but there's no need to complain
and there's nothing left to say
dancing on the train tracks at a quarter past 3
music & friends to mask the misery
patches and hair dye, drugs & rock-n-roll
denied the right to have a voice, we speak out as a whole
we walk down the street under casino lights
you chose not to look at us
you know we can't be right
dancing at the club, bodies meet tonight

abused and unwanted, we turn to the streets
another night under the lights inside the city heat
we're second class citizens, spit on by the rest
denied the chance to live a life, to do our very best
just because we won't conform to a sad ideal
too concerned with sharing with the world
the emotions that we feel
you see the patches, pain, and dye
you choose to look away
afraid that one day you'll be touched by what we say

My heart bleeds for you...this is so beautiful...i would not shun you away if i saw you and your friends...and i would not treat you any different than anyone else....my heart is so saddened because i know there are people out there in this world who so often treat people this way....and it hurts....

Sweet pain; I can always respect someone who makes his choices and accepts whatever consequences result.

And this poem is truly a great expression of that dichotomy between those who live and those who merely exist. This is one of the better poem I've read around here.

Wow so deep and yet so true people do that all the time. Very good write. People should never judge someone else because nobody's perfect and because they don't know what many other people go through. I really enjoyed reading this poem so good.
