You Want My Life & You Want My Wife!

Contributed by inter on Thursday, 31st March 2005 @ 07:30:39 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I don’t doubt your declaration
Of being in love with my wife,
Nor the wit of such application,
In coded phone-calls and double-life.

But it remains an affair:
The reunions rare,
The long time absence,
The token penance,
The old love languish;
Guilt, grief and anguish.
All of which sharpens the sensation
Of naughty provisional love’s elation.
Intensify to such a point,
That people are prepared to act,
Cruelly, chilling bone and joint,
In anguish they form a pact.
But no way as agonizing
As for those who are suffering
Instead of merely inflicting
The cruelty.

If they are spineless and clueless,
Living the life of the bizarre,
If they are selfish and ruthless
By nature – as I think you are,
Then despite whatever the bill,
They will be less agonized still.
Not that you only have bad bloodroots,
And only exhibit these attributes,
Nor, have a monopoly on being untrue
And giving cold-hearted woe,
It just they’re stronger in you
Than most people I know.

What an interesting write. Good use of descriptive words to bring out the emotion in the write. Kinda like polite anger, I thought ,but anger none the less. Good write.
