What Once Was...

Contributed by Fafnir on Thursday, 31st March 2005 @ 02:33:46 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

My eyes cross the fields of ancient battles
still the blood lies on the ground
though it was centuries ago
a ravens cry slice the silence
on black wings the airborne predator seeks dead meat
for its evening meal
the wolves howl in the dark and their eyes
shine in the dark leading my way
into the great forrest
where mighty trees stand
in the heart of the woods
a mighty throne
made not of stone but pure, bleached bone
on the throne once a mighty king sat
now only dust remains
on the once flowerfilled plains
a cold wasteland now domains
once great waterfalls whose thundering stream could be heard across countries, now only bare rocks and cliffs are left
wolves howl again and the crows cry
I wander along the only remaining beauty in this land
the crystal clear lake
Lake Of Mooncrystal it is called
when the fullmoon shines upon the water
it is a sight unmatched in beauty
a billion of small crystals in all the colors of this world
cast their light upon the sky in the area...
my heart is embraced with sorrow as I remember how it was
once upon a time in the North...
