The Last Winter Leaf

Contributed by enjoiskating6 on Thursday, 31st March 2005 @ 10:44:42 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I'm that final leaf still gripping the bark,
In winter's crisp cold and elongated dark,
Holding to hope that spring takes a breath,
and blows away the loneliness that created death,

Blood red I shine through the wakening sun,
still holding strong I prove i'm not done,
Refusing to part and submit to the floor,
Seeing ahead I can live for much more,

I braced last winter to the ecstasy of you,
A friend by my side together we grew,
But a storm ripped us apart and cast you away,
beside a dying leaf where i watch you decay,

But for spring I hold on to the hope of new growth,
I swore on my life and won't break my oath,
I struggled but learned and now pray for the chance,
That you might grow back and we last in romance.
