My Heart, Your Home

You’re looking down in dismay, but I can read your lies
You’re hiding yourself in shades of red, but I can see your disguise,
Your eyes are mirrored with guilt, but to me they’re signs of distress
Your heart holds so many secrets, but mine holds nothing less.
We had it all planned out; what turned out to be so wrong?
We happened to meet by chance, walking down the road along,
Two hearts that instantly bonded; we were going to be together for life
But that was never the case, now that my heart is filled with strife.
Just like a boat in open seas, you saved me from being shipwrecked
From head to toe, in bangles and anklets were you graciously bedecked,
And when you smiled at me, oh how my heart never felt the same
But now we’re stranded in this preposterous love game.
Now as we’re both standing her, I can see you are hiding your grief
Your soul that was once so crisp now shriveled up like a dried leaf,
I wish I can tell you so many things, but the words just don’t come out
My mind is starting to wonder what life is all about.
I guess love doesn’t mean much today; the word is far too late
For it seems as if we two star-crossed lovers were bound for this fate,
But I want you to know one thing, even though you may not understand
That whenever you may be lonely or afraid, you can always take my hand.
And together we’ll sail the oceans blue, and finally you will see
What it means to be alive and feel the passion that you’re free,
So even though we may not be together; we’re not be each other’s side
Just remember that true love always grows from inside.
And as I turn away from you, I can see your eyes sparkling with tears
Wishing that if I had one last chance, I would wipe away all your fears,
But all the thoughts in my mind, I’m sorry that they can’t be heard
All the things that I said to myself; you can’t hear one single word.
And if for any reason, you feel that you need to roam
Just remember that in my heart, you will always have a home.
