Terri Schiavo
~~~~
I’m blinded to the reality
That Terri is going to die
For I can’t find a reason
For my question of why
Are we not people of compassion?
Have we lost respect for life?
For Terri was a daughter, a sister
A friend, before a wife
By all account of common law
Michael has already moved on
Having relationships and children
Defying his vows and their bond
So why not walk away?
Allow her parents to have control
Why must he destroy?
Their hearts and their souls
I would not wish starvation
On the worst type of man
It is not our place to determine death
Only God can
To me it seems so cruel
An agonizing way to die
When we a nation of compassion
It makes me wonder why?
I know. I mean the wedding vows DO say "In sickness and in health".
Great poem.
