We are the walking dead
As we pass one another down the hallway
We make no eye contact-
Like a secret handshake or a devils pact.
We are in lymbo-
Caught between the real world
And the complete world of madness.
Which world we end up going to
Depends on a doctor who has talked
With us once or twice for about ten minutes
And has the right to commit or release
Our lives hang in the balance
As he laughs with the nurses
And takes a sip of his tea
Nothing seems to matter-
We are all obsolete-
It does not matter what we do or say-
There is just now way to compete
They may say, "Oh just a few more days"
While they get to walk out that door
We have no choice but to stay
