The Difference Between Smart Men And Wise Men

In a heated exchange the gauntlet was dropped,
and the challenge accepted, before glove hit the floor.
What had began as pure mirth between two of same blood
was now raised to a level neither one could ignore.
They had always been rivals, these two of same age,
no matter the test they were poised to compete.
From the small and most trivial to the poignantly profound,
one had to taste victory … the other defeat!
So, wrapped in this contest of egos gone wild,
honor-bound to do battle with no alternative instead
of a one-on-one battle between two strongest of men,
where one could be victor … and the other be dead.
Together they could be the unconquerable duo.
Yet, both were a part of an out of control game,
(“together” had never been part of their psyche)
but, today, face to face, one could die of his shame.
Strong men be not thinkers, nor thinkers strong men;
profound thoughts are those thought by the wise.
If I could predict how the story did end,
I’d bet that both men were “wise men” in disguise.

Oh John! - I love both of these two brawlers. Passion!- Passion! - let us forget about the question compete or retreat, but concentrate upon the brawl, - let them be - till the salad flies out of their ears, Passion! Ardor, G U S T O - this will be their means to attain the wisdom of Socrates.
You yourself answered the title question.
And you alone can stimulate the imagination so brilliantly! .
Great gift!! Kudos for using it.
