Classroom Abuse

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

My feet slowly shuffle
Inside the brick school building that I dread
I reach for the silver knob of your door
And suddenly fear resounds in my head

I'm always the first student to arrive
And I'm the very best student in my class
Always straight A's, and never a problem
Until this year, alas

Sweat breaks out on my forehead
With the thoughts of what you've done
My teacher, the one who I trusted
Who one turned into a demon

My fingers reach the doorknob
And, in terror, it somehow turns
I open the door a crack
And my whole body burns

I take a deep, shaky breath and go in
I see her at her desk
As always, she ignores me
Like I'm some sort of annoying pest

I silently unpack my books
And take what I need for the day
She passes me on the way to her closet
And not a word does she say

As I look up at her
I see the hatred in her eyes
It radiates from all around her
And it makes me want to cry

A teacher should never ever be allowed
To abuse a child like this
She should never have the authority
To take away childhood bliss

For me my innocence left long ago
When I was only eight
Mommy was slowly dying from cancer
And I terrors that refused to abate

I turned to this teacher in fear
When my family was falling apart
And she was kind for a little while
But then she crushed my heart

I believed in her like a mother
And she meant the world to me
But one day, last year, it turned out
She despised and hated me fully

She began to hurt and pierce me
Both in body and in mind
I felt such pain and torment
But no one believed she was unkind

Still today I fear her
I shake in terror during her class
Just knowing she is waiting to scream at me
And that no one can eliminate my distress

I'm on vacation now
But next Monday I go back to school
And then again I'll face her
My teacher, once trusted, now so cruel

We should be able to choose our heroes
And they should never shrink away
From the trust and love we give them
When we are led astray

Author's Note:
This is a true story about someone who has hurt me. Please, if you are a parent or if you suffer from abuse, DO SOMETHING. It scars you for life, and the people who abuse children deserve to die. It's a terrible thing. Watch for abuse, report abuse; don't just stand there. It is something we can prevent, if we would only all try.

this is truly an emotionaly sad poem, I too have gone to my teachers for comfort and guidanse and yes they have abused me and wronged and abandond me, I still dont know why but I just go on living I guess time has heald me and it will heal you to don't dwell on this pains and memories they will destroy you if you let them. when you do go back to school (if not already) when you wake up in the morning take a deep breath anew and leave the pain and the memories where they belong, in the past. I will pray for you.

this was a good poem I have had things similer to this happen (not seeing them as perantal figures) but the pain is still there and scars never heal but they made me in to the man I am and I wouldn't change that for any thing. and i hope that you will see it the same way. be strong and God bless

in this poem the hurt sadness is obvious and rather distressing when somebody hurts you it is important to tell sombody because it makes you feel better i believe confiding in someone will help people adapt

What a honest intense poem. Great job. I am in college and i have 2 children in grade school and I know first hand how devastating to a student's self-esteem a cruel teacher can be. Some teachers should not be around children or adults!!! Keep your chin up and god bless !!
