At the Seams

Contributed by blue_angel on Tuesday, 29th March 2005 @ 01:38:16 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Having to live in constant fear
Trying to find reason behind my tears
Dying slowly every day
Hurting myself just to get away

Falling through this never-ending hole
Completely overtaken by the cold
Waiting in anxiety for my life to end
Afraid my broken heart will never mend

Crying in truth and excruciating pain
Feeling so low and pleading insane
Beyond hope and living a lie
Past redemption and wanting to die

Hopeless, helpless, and utterly alone
Knowing in the end I’m on my own
Held together by false wishes and dreams
With unfixable tears, I’m ripped at the seams

Time is running out for this weakened soul
I welcome the darkness to take me whole
Giving up on giving up slowly again
It’s too late for me, I’ve reached the end

If poets are like doctors, then you must be a neurosurgeon. Okay, strange comparison, I know, but somehow you go deep into the head with scalpel and surgical precision. Not just anyone could do that and get the job done right (me, I'm squeamish 'round blood). Anyway, I see poetry like writing (I've done more of the latter) and you take us through the layers to your poor tortuted soul. While I salute your obvious talent, I feel for you and detest the circumstances that drive you to this pain. I can only hope/pray/plead/whatever that your life improves.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
