Farewell to a Friend

Contributed by overstated on Monday, 28th March 2005 @ 01:01:53 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

More graceful than the wane of light,
I watch the bumblebee leave her lilac petals tonight,
And voyage to distant lands,
To capture another’s hand,
Is there any purpose to her plight?
I have no answer to life,
Tis’ a tranquil mystery,
The yellow and black bumblebee leaves my eyesight…
The insects’ distant sovereignty makes me vibrate inside
For I necessitate her sincere symmetry.

My dear, I’m jealous of its fate
Even if it dies trying to live,
Cos’ I’m dieing trying to give
My soul to boredoms’ bate,
So be a white sheet for me to lye-in for a while,
But dear, I can’t stay asleep for eternity
I know, I said you were my River Nile,
But I want to fly; I want to buzz away like the bee
My love, you are still a river that runs through me,
But, love me enough to set me free…

This is a cool poem. This is why I write free verse. I am free to express myself as you have done with a great poem.

That was most definitely a work of art. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved the portrayal of nature, and the gorgeous imagery it popped into
my mind. And the ending was really cool, how you mixed in the whole
relationship aspect. You did an awesome job on this!

“More graceful than the wane of light,
I watch the bumblebee leave her lilac petals tonight,”

-What beauty you offer us, within your metaphoric descriptions, of the farewell of a friend.

“For I necessitate her sincere symmetry.”

-Bold and powerful, figurative and pun-like…

"So be a white sheet for me to lye-in for a while,
But dear, I can’t stay asleep for eternity"

–Deceiving yet again metaphoric… there is much symbolism beneath your web-like contrived poetry.

What a beautiful write.
One I will not be forgetting, shortly!
