Heartbeat

Topic: SadPoetry

Five AM and everything is blank
No feeling and no body
I turn to take a look to see where my mother is and I go to open the door
I feel nothing and remember nothing
I have no idea what is wrong
I feel emptiness within myself
Is there something wrong with me?

I turn to open the door and my hand goes straight through the door
And I feel nothing but a rush of shivers through my soul
I reach for the door again and I feel shivers again and again as I retry

I think what is happening and when I hear a knock at the front door and here my mother get up and rush for it
I run for my bedroom, the police
Next thing I hear is my mother burst into tears
I wonder what has happened and I walk towards her.
‘Mum’ I say and no reply
The police are holding her tight
I reach out to put my hand on her shoulder and it goes through her body
I wonder what has happened!

‘I’m sorry Mrs. Andrews, your daughter has died in a car accident
The car hit a telegraph pole, she passed on impact’

All I could say was I’m here I’m here mum, tearless tears streamed down my face as I knew I was still alive

‘The driver was drinking, he died to’

I bursted into my tearless cries and my boyfriend had died to but where was he if I had died to?

Mum went hysterical and I did but no one could here me, I felt no heartbeat in my body. What was happening?

I see the light ahead as I walked towards the light to let my mum go I raced towards and I saw my father and heard him calling my name. I felt all warm again
No hurt and no pain. It felt right.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
