The Tiniest Water

Contributed by iodinelove on Saturday, 26th March 2005 @ 11:52:19 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

It is in the tiniest water, stirring in the rain, that I can find your love for me.
You are far from me now. Still, I can remember the smallest move you made.
The way you touched your cigarette so roughly, pulling the weight of the flame into your fingers. I can remember your straight, black hair and curls, your propensity for laughter, your brown eyes. The most beautiful brown eyes.
I have no way to see you. My only photo of you lost long ago. I can remember you through the saddest songs. I can see you in each word; every tiny strand of your skin, sweat, and sand across your toes.
I cannot say, you were my ocean, my sea storming and forgotten. I cannot say, my love is the open candle to light thy way across a falling star. I cannot say, I love, because I do not love. It has been too long now.
You were alone and I loved. You were surrounded and I loved. You were simple and I loved. You were simple, and i could not bring myself to love.
I never danced with you. I never held you when I did not want to hold. I never cared enough. I did not love you. I did not love you because I did not love myself.
There are so many beautiful words that I couple clasp and chain to your name, that i could speak and sweep away your tears. But of all the grace and beauty that I can stow beneath my fingers, it is in the tiniest water, stirring in the rain, that all the love you had for me; that all the things i did not do; that all the love i did not love; come together, and color you.
