Those I Leave Behind

Farewell to you beloved;
it’s time for me to leave.
Do not let sadness linger;
if you love me do not grieve.
It’s not as if all memory
of me will disappear;
as long as there is consciousness
I’ll be forever near.
You’ll hear my voice within you
as you ponder wrong from right.
You’ll feel my arms protect you
as you fall asleep at night.
Don’t you know your guardian angel
watches everything you do?
And who but me…would oversee
who watches over you?
Farewell, beloved, is not goodbye.
I’ll always be with you.
You’ll leave my name on everything
I taught you how to do.
And, as the seasons change,
you’ll feel my presence near.
In the winters, and the summers,
I’ll return year after year.
Glimpse a solitary wildflower
swaying slowly in the breeze;
hear your name called oh so gently
from a grove of white oak trees.
Glance up unexpectedly,
and occasionally, you’ll see ...
a fleeting glimpse, a shadow,
and you’ll know that you’ve seen me.
I’ll be there in every snow flake;
every glistening drop of dew;
and, at that final sunset…
I’ll be there to comfort you.
Down the path I’ll come to meet you
when God sets your spirit free.
Then together, we shall journey,
into eternity.

A touching piece. Several lines stood out for me, especially
when God sets your spirit free
Which is I think an excellent way of understanding death. May your road rise up.

This is such a comforting write...and so well written.
I just loved the optimism and the flow of this...

A beautifully very well written piece of poetry.
I'm sorry for your loss. A beautiful tribute so heartfelt and sincere. A sad, but wonderful and pleasant write.
Hugs,

What a providentially sent poem.
A tear jerker true, but much more.
A promise that love never dies, but lives on forever and ever.
ET RESURREXIT.
Thanks for posting thanks lord for finding- at last.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
