A POEM OF THANKSGIVING FOR MY ANGEL

AS A CHILD I WAS TAUGHT TO BE GRACIOUS, POLITE AND THANKFUL TO ALL
FOR THE GIFTS WE WERE GIVEN, NO MATTER THEIR VALUE, LARGE OR SMALL.

MY PARENTS WERE MY TEACHERS, MY FRIENDS, MY GUIDING LIGHT
IT WAS UP TO THEM TO TEACH ME WHAT WAS WRONG, AND WHAT WAS RIGHT.

I GREW UP IN A HOME FILLED WITH LOVE, HOPE AND CARING,
A PLACE THAT ANY CHILD WOULD BE BLESSED TO BE SHARING.

I DREAMED OF A HOME LIKE THAT FOR MY HUSBAND AND ME,
BUT GOD DIDN’T HAVE THAT SAME DREAM YOU SEE.

I FILLED OUR HOME WITH STRAY CATS AND DOGS
I WOULD TAKE IN ANY HOMELESS SOUL THAT WAS LOST.

YEAR AFTER YEAR I FOUND MY HEART ACHING,
NO BABY FOR ME, NO BOW WILL BE BREAKING.

I NEVER GAVE UP THE DREAM OF BEING A MOTHER
I KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

AND THEN CAME MY ANGEL, SHE CALLED ON THE PHONE
SHE ASKED IF WE WOULD GIVE HER UNBORN CHILD A HOME.

WE MET AND BECAME FRIENDS, I BELIEVE FRIENDS FOREVER
FOR THE BOND WE HAVE MADE CAN NEVER BE SEVERED.

MY ANGEL GAVE ME HOPE OF THANKSGIVING AND LOVE
SHE GAVE ME A CHILD BLESSED FROM ABOVE.

I THANK YOU MY ANGEL FOR YOUR FAITH, LOVE, SACRIFICE & TEARS,
YOU WILL REMAIN IN MY HEART ALWAYS,
FOR THE REST OF MY YEARS.
