Dawns trickling plagues streaming through dirty panes
Cold door of waking life is creaking ever slow
Eye lids pried fluttering droop to lift daylight disdains
Drowning in drowsy dismay beneath patched quilts rough flow
Disconcerted limbs wonder through morning grays
Groping fingers feel long grooves in air searching for winter’s sky of crow
Weary feet fall from sleep to frozen floor strays
Bent toes slam unanswered on hardwood slab slip cross splintered board
Weakly float on weightless stomach falling cross rooms dusty frays
Stumble to wicker chair and halfway into faded jeans color poured
Then lets them fall once more collapsing also to floors rough grains
Sitting there upon these boards minds eye wanders at the window if this is all life stored
A new day in a long line of new days as time continues its eternal refrains
The yesterdays and todays blur into one as we sit and look through dirty panes
