Soldier

Contributed by Zombie_2662 on Friday, 25th March 2005 @ 04:04:33 PM in AEST
Topic: war

Gary and Lucy are sitting for the guard
Up in the tower for hours and hours
Her shift ends
So she began to descend
Gary looks down and begins to wave goodbye
But much to his surprise....
Lucy looks distracted by something flying by
Just as she looked up...
Out popped her eye
An arm flew here and a leg flew there
her head bounced all the way down the stairs
Gary watched in horror
As Lucy was blown to bitz
Just another sodier
Who took a might hit
Mortar rounds heard every day
warning us to stay away
But we do as we are told
For our government makes us go
Our family and friends have no choice
In the military you have no voice
"Be all you can be"
is the "army of one" now
picked off one by one and as our death toll rises
We sit back and watch
Hoping our loved ones not next
To be put in the earth wigh no box
The world will never hear
Your loved ones name nor mine
They're just another soldier pawn
In a wicked game of minds
The game our own government created
Trying to steal the prize
oil, black gold, texas tea
The truth is out
Thats what its all about
there's no secret anymore
But we are made to play
losing our lives each day
What a waste...

before you write something like that, get your facts. When you said "the government makes us go" it's not completely true. We are not in a draft, we can refuse to go to war, they just don't want to tell you that. Legally you can say "I'm not going to Iraq". And I hope you know we are winning and the only soldiers of ours that are dieing mostly died from friendly fire and transport plane crashes....

even though that comment is true, it does not stop the fact that the government started the war, making the soldiers go to war. does not stop the fact that even if people did die mostly from friendly fire there were those that did not. war is war. a lose of blood and innocence. but then again i expect nothing less from such a flawed creature. but on to talk of your poem. this was an excellent piece. your tone was powerful and that is what i liked most in this. your words were wonderful also. i could not really say that i liked the whole lucy bit because it was just worded to a way that i did not like. but i dont think i would have liked it worded differently anyway. i loved the ending. never stop writing.
