Blackened lace

Darkness decends upon me,
Like a shroud of darkest lace,
Blinding, suffocating and,
Surrounding me with grace,
Trapping me inside myself,
Inside this fragile smile,
Protecting me from nothing,
But I'll stay here for a while.

Swallowing the memories,
Like bitter tasting brew,
But I keep regurgitating,
And the mess just looks like you,
So I'll sit here in the darkness,
Inside this precious nest,
For darkness binds, it blinds me,
From the things I can't express.

[I will sit here in this blackened lace,
At peace, my ache confined,
And pray for an escape...
From the darkness of my mind.

I know this changes nothing,
It won't help to always hide,
But sometimes just escaping,
Is doing what is right...]

OMG Philly!!!!

First of all I love the images you create, they are so vivid. Secondly the rhythem/cadence in this is one of my favorites. (it reminds me of many of my own) and lastly the whole idea of escape or time for ones self even knowing it will not solve all your problems....You nailed it!!!
Big Hugs to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too loved the picture, it's kinda disturbing in a way, but you can't help but look at it. You know sorta like a kid knowing not to play with fire, but yet they do. Not sure how good of a metaphor that was lol, but i tried. Anyways now i'm rambling. Great write as well. The picture sets the mood perfectly. Much love.

Many people have found that escape can be as bad as facing the problem. It would surely depend on where you are escaping to and what you are using to get there. Knowing how ever that the problem will still be there is a sign that you won't escape too far or for very long. I really liked this Phil, well written and a lovely pic as well.

Oh Phil, this was so emptionally appealing I had to comment on it. And the black lace is a fitting metaphoric device. Big hugs and I hope you findvthe best path for *you*. Jules ( from on the road in New Mexico).

Phil this was just a beautiful, sad, emotive masterpiece.

The imagery you used here was just outstanding, i can honestly say each poem you do gets better and better.

I will sit here in this blackened lace,
At peace, my ache confined,
And pray for an escape...
From the darkness of my mind.

I know this changes nothing,
It won't help to always hide,
But sometimes just escaping,
Is doing what is right...]

Beautiful stanzas, i could so well relate to them.

Jane

Beautifully written with a sad lament. I really like the flow and the message. I think you display a lot of wisdom. You realize hiding will not resolve anything; but are also aware that you have to pick the time and place when you are ready. Life is sort of a game of poker. You need to know when to hold them and when to fold them. Trust your intuition.

Well done!

What disturbing pictures you paint on my mind's canvas. Although disturbing, vivid and metaphoric.

Another colourful muse desipte the obscurity of darkness which seems to haunt and plague.

"Blackened Lace"... beautiful...

Dark and intense this certainly is. And the picture is amazing. I just hope things aren't very dark, very often.

Another excellent piece, my friend.
