A Timeless Pearl

Grief

A reflection mirrored in Mother Earth
Glittering, shining in the sun
A jewel so extraordinary, the one.
A hoard of memories it holds, unique to the eye
Each one is special, holding reminiscences
that travel far beyond the clouds so high.
A puddle that holds so many secrets
Each drop leaks with a tale,
And can you see that solitary tear
That sweeps down her cheek, so rare
Her hair blowing in the wind, so fair
that echoes a thousand fears.
Truth caught between so many lies
I sit alone, weaving memories in the dark
Only the gushing cascade
listens to my pain. Oh, lark!
Can you see deep inside my heart
A thousand wounds that tear me apart.
Colours that highlight the ripples below
Reflected in the apple of her eye
The core burning so bright
In the darkness of the night, I see
one that is more vivid than the others
The one that forever holds the key.
Can you hear her weep so softly?
Her face unblemished like the moon,
Yet even the moon is sometimes scarred
A tiny dot, a tiny mark
Hiding secretly in the dead of night
She sees me through her blurred sight.
And silently, I stare back at her
Through the barrier that separates us,
From the cruel world, she tried to hide
Bottled up in the lake, away from the world
The flood from all the tears she’s cried
I can’t seem to find her, however hard I try.
Delicate shadows that caress the light
But with one touch, all are gone,
And there I see her face again
Entwined with passion, yet distraught with pain
I see her breath entangling her soul
and then I can see her no more.

Was that you or a ray of light?
Was that really you, or just a wonderful sight?
Did I see you, or a rain of dreams?
I saw your face, but was it, as it seems?
Was that you, or was it a dove’s call?
Was that really you, or did I imagine it all?
