My heart has often stayed to listen to the wanderings of
A single leaf floating down the invisible oceans of wind.
Much has it wondered at the way simple charms appear
To hold an arm around it- in jaded gloom, innocent shelter.
And staying, it has dreamt; and dreaming, it has soared
Beyond the dark clouds of doubt that hide hope’s sky,
And soaring, it has laughed, blue winds under open wings,
And laughing, it has lived sometimes, as it always ought to.
Days of grace such as stars riding upon the night-steed
Come softly, my heart has often stayed to ride with them,
Kings over fair lands they have marched over the glade
Carrying beacons to shine over many a darkened hour.
The rage of all the winds of today, chasing, running ever,
The rush of steps upon the weary stone of crowded paths,
My heart has often stayed to hear a seed in the winter
Sing alone, a song of the evergreen forest in it’s heart.
And hearing, it has learnt; and learning, it has believed,
In what the eye cannot see, but faith can, and
Believing, it has loved; giving all of itself, and
Loving, it has lived sometimes, as it always ought to.

an outstanding piece of poetry expressed so deeply and so well. The verses flowed so well and the language used is absolutely great. A wonderful and enjoyable read.

Again I must say, Amen! What a blessing those days of grace, those beacons, are to the heart. And the last stanza is filled with a vast wisdom.
And hearing, it has learnt; and learning, it has believed,
In what the eye cannot see, but faith can, and
Believing, it has loved; giving all of itself, and
Loving, it has lived sometimes, as it always ought to.
Seldom has it been said so well. I am awed, as I often are with your words.
Andrew
