MOTHER KNOWS WELL

Contributed by THUGGIN4REAL on Tuesday, 22nd March 2005 @ 04:54:55 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

MY MOTHER ALWAYS SAID
FRIENDS WOULD COME AND GO
THE STREETS SHOWED ME
HOW MY FRIENDS
COULD TURN TO HOES
I GUESS WHEN YOU DONT LISTEN
THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO KNOW
I SHOWED MY BOYS ABOUT LOYALTY AND TRUST
AND WHEN PUSH CAME TO SHOVE
I WAS ALWAYS THERE
FOR IT WAS A MUST
I WAS SO QUICK TO HEAR
BUY ME THIS OR COP ME THAT
WHAT I DIDN'T REALIZE
WAS THAT I WAS SETTING MY OWN TRAP
MY MOM NEVER LIKED ANY OF MY CREW
I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO HER THAT IT WAS COOL
BUT WHEN THEY FELL OFF
THEY MADE ME LOOK LIKE THE FOOL
SHE WOULD ALWAYS TELL ME TO FIGHT MY OWN WARS
AND NOT THE NEXT MANS
I NEVER LISTENED
CAUSE WHEN THEY GOT INTO TROUBLE
I WAS ALWAYS THERE TO LEND A HAND
I GOT THE SYMBOL OF MY SET
TATTED ON MY CHEST
I GOT IT AT AN EARLY AGE
I THOUGHT IT WOULD OF PUT SOME OF MY PAIN TO REST
MY FRIENDS STARTED DYING
AND
MY HEART COULDN'T STOP CRYING
I STILL WANT TO AVENAGE THEIR DEATHS
AND I WILL
I AINT LYING
THE STORY GOES ON
AND I ENDED UP IN PRISON
JUST TO KNOW I COULD OF AVOIDED IT ALL
IF I WOULD OF TOOK THE TIME TO LISTEN

God isn't it the turth? But you can't beat yourself up. I liked this because even though I was never in a gang, i hung out with guys that were and like yours, my mom always said they were no good. But I don't know if I just wanted to prove her wrong or I was niave... who knows why, maybe i just liked belonging. And in the end you always get burned. Now I am in the worst situation... my mom said "don'tmarry him" and I did. Now I wish I listened to her more then ever. This was great because many people can feel where you are coming from, and it is simple yet quite complex. Nice write.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Keep your eyes open to what you have learned and I know that you'll make it.
