Father and Daughter Bond

I was broke with no food hardely in the fridge,
and my child crying with a stomach ache in the corner eating mints,
I start crying-looking at a house with holes on the roof,
made me get angry at myself-making a promise to move soon,
she was asking me how come I was crying-with pure innocence,
I just held her knowing her love for me is imminent,
on Christmas I never bought myself anything-I bought her toys and clothes,
she looked at me with a smile and I would smile back and make the most,
on a special birthday-I made sure to get her the pearl necklace,
celebrating that she never hurt me since she was an infant,
I guess she was starting to figure out why I was often depressed,
she wanted me to smile-she hated seeing me upset,
she often shared with me what took pain and tears to obtain,
growing up on bread and beans-she would eat it and never complain,
she knew I was trying to give her a childhood,
trying to be a father and a friend-to my baby diamond,
I try to apologize everyday for her not having a good life,
she tells me its been perfect since she was born--
and I will always remain by her side...

This is such a sad and emotional write. U brought tears to my eyes. I felt ur pain through every word. May the father and daughter bond grow even stronger. Peace and blessings to u and ur girl.
A heart breaking, but excellently expressed poem. Chin up my friend . Take care.
