A Land's Mourning

I think I hear the rain again,
that sound that soothes my soul.
When those tears fall down from heaven,
they mend the Summer's toll.
The trees now wilter and wither,
the earth has become dry,
and we, her son's and her daughters,
sit helpless watching her die.
But now I hear the rain again,
a blessing to the Earth,
rejuvenate and quench the land,
come forward with great mirth.
The land has long been suffering,
but we'll no longer mourn,
for the rain has been our saviour,
and our Mother is reborn.

I wrote this poem, because living in Australia, we suffer great boughts of drought, and so when it rains it is a blessing to so many of us... |
