I wake up
With the same expression
Every day
The same placid feeling
The only colors seen
Are grey
I brush my teeth
And vainly check my face
For any irregularities
That I can trace
And as my hand scans
I cut myself
Upon the ledge of the mirror
But as the blood runs down the sink
I gaze indifferently at my newest disfigurement
And I wonder if all feel the same
If feelings hurt for so long
That they are beaten into being unchanged
Is this how I am to feel?
The constant yet ever changing ordeal
And that is why I wake up with the same expression
Every day
Everything hurts less
When you see them in grey
