A calico blanket covers the earth
in a hue of vibrant colors
beneath it the animals sleep
in the protection of the canvas
winter winds yet all is calm
from the window of my view
a billowy white cotton sky
obscures my interlude
Calm down heart within my chest
Sunset lays my heart to rest
Nature brings love back to me
from the dead of winter
Calm down fears that do arrest
keep me joyous in the midst
of stormy gales that take their tolls
from the dead of winter
My heart feints for flowers
and summer tales of youth
Blossoms of great joy that say
the winter has passed through
From the canopy of sky
Concrete forests fade and hide
trees appear in flourishing life
from the dead of winter
A blanket covers all the earth
beneath it man and beast do sleep
I smell the sweet and fragrant mirth
A peace to me my soul bequeath
