No, Don't take me there
Please, I don't want to go
A child screams into the light
The barely audible 'No'
Is running through her head.
As her world falls apart
Her parents barely notice
They're gone every night
They nearly always fight
What’s going on?
Why do they not care?
She wonders as she cries
Her life isn't fair.
She sees the other girls at school
She started just last year
They've already got it in for her
Her life is full of fear.
She tells the teacher
He sits and smiles
'But children have their little grudges
It will go away in time'
6 Years later, and she's gone to comp
The same girls sit and stare
They point and laugh, spreading rumours
He parents don't care
They think it's all true
She's been grounded a thousand times
Smoking, skiving, having sex
They think it's all been done.
This is her life and they don't see
They made her go to school
But it was one time too many
She went with a gun in her hand.
She got some foundation, did herself up nice
She wondered what they'd say
She chuckled with a hint of hysteria
Then to school she made her way.
She wondered if life was this way
Or was she just mad?
She wondered what the papers would say
'Little Darla killed herself, how sad.'
She knew no one would miss her
But she would take down those girls
She shot them one by one
She looked them each in the eyes
And as they pleaded for their lives
She knew how they'd felt
When they'd tortured her.
She smiled her little smile
With her eyes that could freeze hell
She looked upon their terror stricken faces
And without regret, stole their lives.
She laughed at the others who stared
The ones who'd egged the girls on
She winked at a boy who'd said he'd screwed her
And put the gun up to her head
She knew they'd all be happy now
Her parents always wished she was dead
Every step she took
Had been a knife into their heads.
But then she thought of Alex
Her hand upon the trigger faltered
How could she comfort him
When her parents told her brother
That the fault was his?
For she knew they would.
But they'd then lavish attention on him
He would be happier too
Better if her forgot her
Then she pulled the trigger.

very sad. You'd think kids would learn from the Culombine incident, but I guess not. A great poem, just sorry it had to happen under those circumstances. |

This was a great poem. Sent chills down my spine. People will never learn. It's very sad it ended in such tragedy. My heart goes to that poor girl.
