With a startled, whistling rustle
And a flurry of intense struggle
The valiant strain against gravity begins
Slow at first, ever so slowly
The effort makes itself apparent
One final push and finally, freedom
Onward, upward in ascending increments
Earth's invisible bonds, disallowed
Heavenly, the outstretched reach
Soaring, gliding along cottony wisps
Perusing an expanse beyond terrain eyes
Regaling with unrestrained movement
Floating now through vaporous ether
A spiral sparked by unseen thermal
Care shunned with free-form rise
Free, loose and open in the ozone
Rest's necessity causes cessation
Silently, ultimately the Mother re-calls.

I'm so sorry I missed this. Now I am going to have to check you out more and see what else I've been missing. This was lovely. I love birds. I live in the country and I find their songs wonderful in the morns...it brings me comfort. I find it serene. We have a variety of birds out here in the plains of Missouri. Turkey vulture live in our barn, we also have a big beautiful hawk that flies around, wow.. is he ever wonderful to watch. Makes me wish I could fly. (I shall one day..*smiles*). Great nature write...I am a tree hugging dirt worshiper, myself...so I dug this a lot.
Much peace,
Laura |
