Endless Roads

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Saturday, 19th March 2005 @ 10:47:18 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Riding on what seems to be....
endless roads.
Places unfamiliar,
some I seem to know.
Many cars all journeying
and I wonder to myself....

Where are they all going?
Where do they all come from?
Statuesque like faces
peer from the glass
of the machine next to me.
Who are you over there?
Could you be a friend....or foe?

We're like tiny bugs
scurrying here and there.
Trying to get any way....
some where.
Miles and miles we go.
Made a pass through your town.
Did you even know?

Diesel smells grow thick
in my nares....
when big cities draw near.
Odors of chemicals unkind.
Trash and sludge can be seen.
So hard to keep these metropolises clean.

Cruel sounds abound in this crowded space.
Sirens whine, horns will blow.
Night is the only time I enjoy,
passing the city scene you know.
Thousands of twinkling lights...
like a tiny galaxy
on this huge universe....
called earth.

Riding on and on we go.
Over mountains,
blinding rain and fog.
Make our descent slowly....
to the pines.
Inhale that aroma.
Oh yeah, heading south.
Where the air's so sweet
and the sun does shine.
Endless roads leading me down to...

South Caroline'

A wonderful description of your travels; and it also conveys that sense of freedom. The nice thing about your lifestyle is you can select the envirenment you wish to make your temporary home.

Hope you have many pleasant travels
Willofree, Terry

DH .. I agree with Will .. there is a sense of freedom in
this write and the ending had me lost in sighs ..
Laura, I so enjoy these poetic travels of yours.
Your writes never fail to impress or invoke a smile ..
