A Gummy Nightmare

Contributed by inoc on Friday, 18th March 2005 @ 08:00:56 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

A 40th party of drinking
made me wake in freight
Where are my teeth?
The ones that I wore last night

Looking casually at first I search
under the pillow...
on the bench...
maybe someone took them... now that is low!

Panic settling in.
I start to shout
Help me please
my faulse teeth are out!

Feeling all gummy
I start feeling wild
Why can't I remember
it's like searching for a child!

Time is clicking by
I need to get home
It's a long drive
and all i can do is roam!

Yet all the rooms,
are all teeth free and clear.
They arn't in the letter box?!?
Are they?[feels like theyve been gone all year!]

My daughter seriously asks
Have you a spare pair?
As if I thought!!!
All I could do was give that stare!

The dog hasn't buried them?
Surely not!
I just have to go home.
With empty smiles I feel like rot!

Once half way home
My mobile is beeping.
My daughter found them
under the rugs where I was sleeping!

A semi arrives a day later.
I wait for the package.
At the service station,
I dare not smile[ I felt like wreckage!]

Dedicated to my dad ....luckily we can laugh about it now!!!
*inoc smiles remembering....*

A very funny tale of woe. I must admit I smiled when I read this delightful poem. I only take mine out to clean so this I hope will never happen to me. All the best from bernard.

I LOVE THIS!! It so reminds me of my father whom I lost last year. Thank you for the happy memories...
