Outlaw Blues - B Sides 4: Wanted Man

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Slide knew that in New Orleans
He didn't have a ghost of a chance
So northern bound, he left that town
To complete his final dance
Little else is known about him
And there is no further news
But shortly after he disappeared ...
Chicago started singin' the blues
Wanted Man
____________________
Well, I done wore out my welcome
On the south end of New Orleans
When I stuck a man who ran a three piece band
So I hopped on a river boat queen
Now it's a long ride up the 'Sippi
And I hope I ain't been made
Cuz the Devil is waitin' in Lou'siana
And ya know he's a gonna get paid
So muddy water keep on rollin'
Won't cha take me to the other side
Touch me down on Holy ground
And let me live my life
Cuz ~
Nobody wants a wanted man
And the Devil can't be outran
I think he's even hopin'
For the soles of these shoes
But they're wearin' pretty thin
And got some holes in 'em too
Feels like I been runnin'
Forever and a day
If I thought it'd do some good
You know I just might pray
Lord, take me by the hand
Take pity on this wanted man
I dabbled in Damballa
Cuz I liked the way it sounds
Then a bone cast spell sent a man to hell
I didn't want him hangin' around
Someone said he was a lawman
And I don't know if all that's true
But I'm already on a couple a posters
For a few things I did not do
So muddy water keep on rollin
Take me somewhere to start again
Lead this moth to a man of cloth
That I may confess my sins
Cuz ~
Nobody wants a wanted man
And the Devil can't be outran
I think he's even hopin'
For the soles of these shoes
But they're wearin' pretty thin
And got some holes in 'em too
Feels like I been runnin'
Forever and a day
If I thought it'd do some good
You know I just might pray
Lord, take me by the hand
Take pity on this wanted man
Yeah, muddy water just keep on rollin
Roll me far away from here
I wanna set my sights on things done right
I want a future much more clear
Cuz ~
Nobody wants a wanted man
And the Devil can't be outran
I think he's even hopin'
For the soles of these shoes
But they're wearin' pretty thin
And got some holes in 'em too
Feels like I been runnin'
Forever and a day
If I thought it'd do some good
You know I just might pray
Lord, take me by the hand
Take pity on this wanted man
Ain't nobody nowhere
But you Lord ~
Wants a wanted man
Wow. This is my favourite out of all of them.
You've outdone yourself once again, Nazzy.
I think this one flowed better, the words just seemed to work really well.
Great write hun,
*hugs* Phil xxx
"Nobody wants a wanted man "
That is killer.
"Yeah, muddy water just keep on rollin
Roll me far away from here
I wanna set my sights on things done right
I want a future much more clear "
So in the end he wants to do right? I did not see this coming. But that is the tell tale sign of a successful production, a surprise ending. Ok, you two are absolutely talented and amazing (god I sound too flattering) but it is the truth. I loved every one of these. You did each justice, none was short of the others. You two are great together. The pics were brilliant accesories and the whole way these works were composed was just right. ANd in all seriousness you should look into getting this series published. Loves it!!!!!! *wishes for more*
It was and always will be
an honor to have done this with you.
Your story-telling lyricism
excelled even my own high expectations.
It was great to find your enthusiasm
for my ideas behind this series.
I remember writing alot of this one
outside in the freezing cold--
you did a fantastic job adding to this.
I love this ending,
great last two stanzas, man.
