Outlaw Blues - B Sides 3: Zombie Rock

Contributed by Nazmythian on Wednesday, 16th March 2005 @ 06:13:24 PM in AEST
Topic: group

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many a fine musician
From New Orleans has come and gone
And some still find, just like Slide
Their spirit lingers on
So there within the graveyard
Gathered up the best
And late into the twilight hours
They played their souls to rest
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Slide Cotrelle's
Zombie Rock
_________________________

Gonna dig myself a hole
And hide my tainted soul
Cuz the Lord no longer saves
Gonna lay me down in that grave

His bank, it has been busted
Stainless steel hearts are rusted
Gonna drink that Voodoo brew
Play Ghost in the Graveyard just for you

Sprinkle some death dust down on me
Make me the guitar slingin' Zombie
Sprinkle that black dust right on me
I'll be the six string slingin Zombie

I'm gonna play for all the bones
Rockin' a stage of their tombstones
Those like me heaven don't save
So I'll be playin in this grave

That Black Death's taken for granted
Saint Peter's gate is disenchanted
Gonna drink a living brew
And play dead here just for you

Sprinkle some death dust down on me
Make me the guitar slingin' Zombie
Sprinkle that black dust right on me
I'll be the six string slingin Zombie

You know death evens the score
Opens up once closing doors
See my soul, it has been branded
And a guitar I've been handed
Won't change nuthin' if I pray
I guess I'm gonna just have to .... Play !!

Look at me now you will see
The guitar slingin' Zombie
I will spend eternity
As the six string slingin' Zombie
Zombie
Zombie
( play that there guitar man )
( play us on home )
____________________________
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes when the wind is right
And he can feel their pain
The spirit is awakened
Of Reverend John Coltraine
As the mist that gathered 'round them
Started slowly to depart
He witnessed to his brother Slide
Of the Lords forgiving heart
I can tell this is different to the others, but it is still just as good.
To be honest, you two have done the best collab I have seen ever.
Well done,
Great write,
*hugs* Phil xxx
Once again the intro hooks me. I am lovin this. And the pic is killer.
"Stainless steel hearts are rusted"
even the toughest of men can be broken...
