The Candle Dances (Before it darkens.)

Contributed by ForeverAndADay on Tuesday, 15th March 2005 @ 05:39:28 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

The computer screens they all crash down.
Blinking off one by one.
Their twilight glow,
Tapering off into a darkness that is similiar to the nothingness of long ago.
And as the last computer screen goes out.
Perhaps it makes that sound your computer always makes when it's shutting down.
A lonely metalic groan telling you it's down and out.
And perhaps the last worker in this flickering room.
Slumps his shoulders and starts heading home.
Perhaps as that dying glow decreases...
The mans outline first becomes ghost like and then vanishes.
(Just another old man dying of old age, in bed, in his dreams, his mind has turned it's final page.)

Or maybe it's a fire, that you feed heartily at first.
Giving it the things it needs to give the fire birth.
And maybe as your young, it absolutely roars, as life reaches it's happiest stages, and your not yet concerned with worth.
But as you grow older, and thinner, and paler, and as your body starts getting cold, your giant campfire turns into a candle, flickering and old.
And maybe those two glass orbs, with their irises and hue, reflect that light as your very soul, floating in a stew.
And maybe when that candle finally burns out...
That's when your eye's lose color...
(Look deeply into those circular windows, your soul cannot be found.)

Maybe it's a lot of things, the things that no one really likes to think about.
The things that make us nervous...
ashamed enough to not speak such anxieties out loud.
But it should not be a shadow looming and eating up your joy, just as much as it should not be looked over as meaning nothing in your life.

Death is who we become, and what we're born to find...
It's our ultimate descention throughout our course in life.
We signed our death certificate the day we opened up our eye's.
Death is just another beginning, at the end of our lives.
DNB
(Watch the smoke as it dwindels and cools.)

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
