The Story

Contributed by poky1502 on Tuesday, 15th March 2005 @ 12:46:37 PM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

with words that cut like razors
and eyes that burn like gasoline
the only choice was to run away
nothings ever what it seems

the serpant speaks with a split tongue
the jester wears a mask
whatever questions you kept silent
had a simple answer if youd ask

but games were played
and war was waged
behold a slaughter
as we are aged

mixed messages are no longer needed
hatred brews the hearts contempt
the masks once worn no longer fit
the bottom comes close, where will we hit

whats done is gone
and gone has past
the presents here
but it wont last
future lies are to be told
slither new tales, all behold

i really liked this and i'm glad i accidently clicked in here...the title doesn't do the poem justice, though...it's a hidden gem. Tiffany J.

An excellent poem. A lot of food for thought.

This is the single most genius poem I've read yet!!! You brilliant, brilliant poet! How has no one yet noticed? The poem is shaped like a mask as well. EXCELLENT!
