Maple Falls

Contributed by Freak-of-the-Week on Tuesday, 15th March 2005 @ 05:17:50 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

A light rain falls, it coats the land,
While windows sit aglow,
Side by side in soldier's stance --
A chill wind starts to blow.

Lonely, the street beneath this fog,
A canvas trapped in gloom --
The painting is dreary and cryptic,
Though it seems to fit this tomb.

The dark is getting deeper now,
As the night comes to mask it's shame,
While the gray drizzle deepens to downpour,
And roars in a manner untame.

One by one, each window fades,
To rest in darkness once more,
As the rain raps softly upon each roof,
And the wind upon each door.

This place marks the birth of a memory,
This place, so wicked and dead...
Deja vu dares not walk through,
This hollow in our stead.

While this rain, torrential on rooftops,
Comes down every day of the year.
The ghosts wake not from their slumber,
As they are the only ones here.

I like this, I love the images of the windows in soldier stance.

You have a good talent here, your words work well together.

Great write,
*hugs* Phil xxx

"unsuccessfully"? I think I'd argue that...

There is a surreal sort of feeling that comes along with this write... and as per your comment at the top, I believe that's just as it should be. You have handed me snapshot of Maple Falls here - and while I'm sure I've never been there, I do think that if I did go, well... I'd move through it with the strangest feeling of reminiscense.

Well done! AND welcome to YPDC... I'm looking forward to more from you!
