The rose only lasts,
A momment or two,
To shine with its beauty,
Bright and new.
Time takes it's toll,
The shine becomes dull,
No longer can it,
Stand so tall.
As the rose dies,
It's petals fall to the ground.
It gasps its last breath,
Without any sound.
The darkness sets in,
To fade it away,
To pieces of dust,
Of black and gray.
Now only its memory,
Has left its mark,
To eventually be,
Consumed by the dark.

| The rose..a magnificent image of how life, as well, can quickly be shattered away..torn into pieces and ripped apart..its said life should be cherished, you only get one life..but theres so much..hurt in it, and its so fragile..just like a rose..great write.. |

This is a really great poem. And I agree with the first comment, I think the rose is very symbolic of life. Great poem!
