Through the eyes of a child....

Contributed by mina-1 on Monday, 14th March 2005 @ 04:07:47 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Mum and dad are fighting again
The yelling and screaming
It never ends
Each day that goes by
My resentment gets stronger
I can't sustain the torment any longer
Why can't we be one happy family
Filled with love and serenity
Like the other neighbouring families
Dwelling happily amongst our city
Dad raises his palm and slaps mum's face
My heart starts to pound at a quick pace
I feel faint, I cringe with fear
Will he hit me too
If I interfere?
Look at it through my eyes
My world's falling apart
I'm a saddened Liitle kid
Who lives with a torn and unloved heart
Is it too much to ask for one day of
happiness
One day to show us you care
No punching or screaming at mum
You, dad actually caring about our welfare
If I only had one wish it'd be
That mum and dad love each other and
We all live once again in harmony
I know I'm just a kid and you think that
I don't understand
But I'm aware of everything
The pain in my heart withstands
So on bended knees on get down every night
Looking up to the shinest stars so bright
To God I make my silent pleas heard
Making sure I repeat my prayers so I don't
miss a word.

Oh hun, I can relate to this more then I'd like. I was that child once. My Dad never really hit my Mum a whole lot, but I do remember him throwing things at her.
It was a long time ago though, it doesn't happen anymore.

This was heartwrenching and almost a memory, one I didn't want to recall.

Great write once again. I love your words.
*hugs* Phil xxx

What a touching heart felt poem. God it made me cry reading this.
I ws lucky in that I had a happy childhood apart from granddads army discipline. Expecting others to get in line be seen not heard type of style. Grandma sorted him out though whenever i use to stay there.
Sorry if you have experienced this in your life. It was an amazing write straight from the heart.

Love Angelxxxx

Very sad but great writing.
Men can change as my Dad use to drink but one day he quit and lived a long luving life. I remember him hitting her some but once he gave up the alcahol everything changed.
Awesome writing that will help some realize their wrongs.
luv, huggs,
emy
